Today, more and more people are looking to electrolysis hair removal to get rid of their unwanted hair permanently. It’s a safe and effective way to get rid of your hair and has over 130 years of history to prove that it works. Most of the parents who call me about it don’t question its effectiveness because they have experienced it themselves or have read or heard about it. I do get a lot of parents asking ‘How old do you have to be to do electrolysis?’ so I’ve decided to list out my response for you today.

How Old Do You Have To Be To Do Electrolysis?

Traditionally electrolysis hair removal is recommended to be started at the age of fourteen because the body is changing at this time and you will see a lot of change. In addition to that they younger you are the more moisture you have in your skin. At the age of fourteen your body has started maturing so it won’t be as sensitive to the process.

If it is a young lady who is interested in getting electrolysis then I would recommend waiting until she has gotten her period.

Electrolysis should be performed only on someone who wants to put the time and effort it requires. Young adults have a lot on their plates so it may be hard for them to fit hair removal into their schedules. If it’s not a priority then it’s not the right time because doing something like one treatment every three months isn’t going to get you very far at all.

If someone has a hormonal imbalance that causes excessive hair growth then they can start electrolysis at a younger age.
